Health & Wellness

The carnivore diet is not only an incredibly healing way of eating, but also a whole lifestyle that nourishes you, ensuring you maintain that optimal physical health and mental wellness.  Eating a biologically appropriate diet adequately fuels both your body and your mind, enabling your body to restore its nutrient capacity.  Your body then heals by natural design.  Yes, that’s right, it HEALS itself!  It just needs YOU to support it.

For a very long time now it has been normalised by society that it’s ok to eat ‘junk’.  Yet we’d never consider filling our petrol cars with diesel fuel.  Why?  Because the whole motor would seize, and your car would break down.  It’s no different for your body and mind.  Yet we continue to do it because that’s what everyone else is doing too and we’re bombarded with it at every corner.

To compound this further, we are then told that fruits, vegetables and carbohydrates are essential for a ‘healthy diet’.  So, for those of you reading this that don’t eat the obvious ‘junk’, you’re probably trying your damned hardest to consume those fruits, vegetables and carbohydrates and get a massive variety of ‘nutrients’ from those sources.  You’re doing everything you’ve been told to do.  You’ve probably completely removed refined sugar from your diet, you’re likely eating gluten free and possibly dairy free already too.  And it may very well be working for you, for a time at least, particularly if you’ve transitioned from a standard diet.

But we were not designed to eat this way.  We did not have access to a copious variety of super-sized fruits and vegetables, from all corners of the planet, every day of the year.  We searched for, gathered and ate tiny berries, likely once a year when nature dictated their fruiting.  Vegetables today are awfully clever, tricky even.  Sure, one may look green and the other white, but they are essentially the same plant, though SO far removed from their wild versions that we selectively and intensely manipulated over time.  So, you may think that you’re eating a variety of different vegetables, but you’re actually probably consuming the same one, over and over again.  One, super-sized, cartoon-version of what we were not designed to eat, every single day of the year.  And although selective breeding may have given us access to this ‘edible’ variety of vegetables, they still don’t want you to eat them, so they try to poison you with their own endogenous insecticides and toxins.  It’s how they are designed to survive and ward off predators.  And fruit… from tiny berries to super-sized high fructose fruits, from every exotic location on the globe, every single day and overflowing our children’s lunch boxes.  It’s far more fructose than we were ever designed to consume.  And then add to all this, all the chemicals it takes to farm this produce, where even organic produce is not safe.

So, we have been told to eat these foods, right!?! These supersized, fructose filled, toxin and chemical laden foods, because our bodies need the fibre. Contemporary society has been programmed to believe that eating fruits and vegetables for fibre is essential for optimal health. Yet, all that fibre that you are told you ‘need’ from fruits and vegetables, just passes straight through you bulking up your stools. It’s a filler that’s largely unusable by your body and does more harm than good. When you slowly transition to meat-based eating, by reducing these fruits and vegetables, it’s one of the very first things you’ll notice. Where has all my stool gone! It’s a hell of a lot smaller, a fraction of the size and frequency! Your body is able to utilise the bioavailable nutrients from meat and organs more readily, so the waste (that we know stool is) is very limited. You won’t be queuing up for toilet paper at the next Covid lockdown, that’s for sure!  Toilet paper, a modern invention for a modern diet problem!  And all those nutrients that you’re told that fruits and vegetables contain that are essential for health, you’ll get all that and more from actually eating biologically appropriate meats and organs, without the unwanted additives of sugar, plant toxins, chemicals and massive amounts of unneeded fibre. Meats, seafoods, eggs and organs are natural, unmodified, biologically appropriate and nutrient efficient.

But the science, what about the science you ask!? And beyond the science, the tradition, the habit and the social acceptance of eating fruits and vegetables for good health? Well, how is that really working for us all? Almost every second woman I meet has had an iron infusion at some point, suffers from seasonal allergies, food intolerances, IBS, reflux, has or is currently dieting, has some degree of anxiety, depression or daily overwhelm. And this doesn’t include those that are suffering from significant chronic conditions and invisible illnesses. There is an ever-increasing number of women suffering from autoimmune conditions, PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, fertility issues, thyroid issues, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, SIBO and various cancers and other maladies. And whilst the men we meet are less likely to share their physical and mental ailments, it’s blaringly obvious that most are forced (on some level) by their wife’s, mother’s or sisters to consume vegetables and fruits when they have no natural instinct or even modern-day desire to eat them. As have many children! Perhaps men and children have known all along that, meat = fuel, perhaps their instincts remained stronger than any recommendations, standards and societal pressures (particularly those pressures on women!). The current diet is not working, despite all the ‘science’! Let us not forget that at one time science recommended that drinking mercury cured constipation and mental illness, rubbing mercury ointments on the gums of our babies eased teething pain, cocaine improved digestion and lobotomies (severing connections in the brain’s prefrontal cortex) cured mental illness. This is why we all need to take some personal responsibility outside of the ‘science’. We need to ask ourselves, am I living my best life and my best health and wellness. And if the answer to that is not a resounding YES, then make a decision to change, to try something new! Because a DECISION to change the status quo will drive momentum towards improving your health and your life.

Slowly transitioning to a carnivore diet and lifestyle, brings with it a renewed energy for daily life. It lifts brain fog and gives mental clarity, it eases digestion, skin becomes radiant (anti-aging), libido increases, weight is optimised and best of all, life is simplified! Once you remove all the ‘noise’ created by inflammatory foods, you can truly connect with and hear your body, its hunger cues and its innate cravings. Let it tell you how it was designed, to regain and maintain optimal health and wellness. It is truly an incredible healing lifestyle!

If you’ve made the decision that you are worth trying something new we’d love to have you join us on our Facebook page @carni-mumma australia where you can share in our carnivore journey and we can help support yours too.  You deserve to live a life of health and wellness!  We recommend that you aim for a slow, gentle and kind transition, in a way that also supports your mental wellbeing.
